Friends club is a social club located in Friends Colony (West) New Delhi, India. Since its founding in 1961 the club has carved a unique niche in our social fabric. Conceived as a forum where the Residents of Friends Colony meet and play indoor & outdoor sports, the club has well surpassed its aim to be a centre of bonhomie and warmth. The Club’s unique environment, quality of food, range of services, sports facilities and the clear waters of the swimming pool are a hallmark of this club and is dear to each one of its members.
1961
Friends Club Ltd. was established on 24.10.1961 on a plot of land reserved by the Founder Members and promoters of the Friends Colony Building Housing Society for common use by the residents. The club since then has developed into primarily a sporting clubs, where the members enjoy the excellent ambience. In over 60 years, Friends Club has served many generations of members from Friends Colony and it’s neighbourhood.
1973-1975
In the year 1973, Friends Colony Residents Welfare Association Constructed a Swimming Pool and a Clay Tennis Court, thus making the area around the club into a sporting area for the children of the colony. In October 1975 the amalgamation of the association and the Friends Clubs took place under the Chairmanship of Shri. O.P. Gupta and Shri. H.S. Verma Hon. Secretary. All resident donors were made life members of Friends Club Ltd.
The club today has an Indoor Badminton Court, Two Billiards and One Pool Table, Two synthetic Turf Tennis Courts, a Squash Court, Swimming Pool, Lounge cum Coffee Shop, Bar, Restaurants, Library and a kiddies Corner for the toddlers.
